World Space Week is the largest event about space in the world, defined as „international celebration of science and technology“ and as contribution to the betterment of human condition. Word Space Week aims to provide unique leverage in space outreach and education, educate people around the world about the benefits that they receive from space, demonstrate public support for space programs, excite young people about science, technology, engineering, and math. World Space Week is annual event observed from 4 October to 10 October in various parts of world, includucing Europe and Asia. On 6 December 1999, The United Nations General Assembly declared World Space Week as international celebration event from 4 October to 10 October. Choice of these dates is based on two important dates in space history: the launch first human-made sattellite Sputnik 1 on 4 October 1957 and the signing of the Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (Outer Space Treaty) on 10 October 1967. On 2017, World Space Week was celebrated on 3 700 events with 80 countries, celebrated in schools, events in planetaries and museums. Theme of World Space Week 2019 is „The Moon: Gateaway to the stars.“
