Socrates believes ignorance is the cause of all evil. The idea is that people do evil things because they do not realize that they are evil. Everyone believes they are behaving morally. But ignorant people often don't realize their own action, they don´t think about possible consequences and they consider their decisions as the right ones. Other way around Socrates believes that knowledge is the key to making the right decisions which lead to a better world.
